Reasons why you should consider LPG conversion for your car.

LPG conversions and LPG conversion kits are very popular worldwide and many people are changing their cars over to LPG gas operated as it has many benefits and works well with many vehicles. At Western Auto, we offer LPG conversion kits for cars and our LPG services have proven to be extremely beneficial to our many customers and their vehicles for a variety of reasons. The main reasons why you should consider LPG conversion for your car, are as follows: Reduce running costs It has been shown that by electing an LPG conversion for you car will save 50 to 65 cents per litre of petrol. This means that during the whole lifetime of your car, you will see significant savings on fuel as the years progress with your car being converted to LPG. For example, with LPG conversion your savings could be sitting around $1500 per year! Less petrol, more saving! By opting to have an LPG conversion installed, your car is considered to have two fuel tanks in operation, meaning that you can drive for longer periods of time without having to fill up in between. LPG conversions enable your vehicle to work between petrol and gas and last for a longer period of time to ensure that you are beating the petrol price cycle. Reduced costs for longer periods of time Petrol and diesel deposits in your car can reduce its efficiency over time and therefore services can become regular and quite costly. With LPG conversion, engine oil and your spark plugs do not need to be changed as regularly and therefore the amount of services your car needs can be dispersed evenly and far apart. Meaning that you will save time on booking your car in for services as well as saving significantly on the costs of car services. Environmentally friendly There’s nothing better than knowing that your vehicle can be more environmentally friendly and less toxic. LPG conversions guarantee an extremely energy efficient and environmentally friendly option for your car. LPG conversion ensures: clean air, less pollution, less gas emissions, less CO2 and more. In addition, LPG conversion  guarantees a 15% reduction in CO2 emissions in comparison to having your car just run on petrol. Easy to work with dual systems By adding in an LPG conversion allows you to swap between your dual system at any time all with the flick of a switch. This makes it so much easier for you to select whatever dual system will work for you depending on your travel time, kilometres travelled or any part of the price cycle. Autogas is readily available There are over 3,000 Autogas stations/outlets across Australia therefore you can fill up quite conveniently whenever you need. Everything You Need to Know About a Roadworthy Certificate

If you are looking to sell your used vehicle, buy a used vehicle or even re-register your existing vehicle, the Australian government requires that in all the circumstances stated above, your vehicle should be equipped with a Roadworthy certificate (RWC). Accredited vehicle testers nominate garages where they will carry out the inspection before you can get a RoadWorthy Melbourne certificate.  You can check with your garage to understand whether an accredited vehicle tester is attached to the particular garage and then approach them with your specific needs. When you are using public roads in Melbourne,  transport authorities expect you to maintain your vehicle in good repair to ensure your own safety and the safety of other road users. However, an RWC Melbourne does not certify the mechanical stability or the general condition of your vehicle and therefore is not a substitute for your regular maintenance schedules. The roadworthy test focuses on components of your vehicle that impact the safety of the vehicle, its occupants as well as other road users. A major objective of the Victorian government in stipulating this certification is to minimise vehicular pollution on public roads and enhance public safety. So what happens when you go to receive a RWC?  When you present your vehicle for a roadworthy certificate, an authorised vehicle tester will examine aspects of your car including: Tyres Wheels Seatbelts Seats Steering wheel Brake pads Suspension Windscreen Engine Overall body In order to receive a perfect assessment result all of these components must be completely safe and in 100% working condition. The certificate issued by the authorised vehicle tester is to ensure the fitness of your vehicle for using public roads in Melbourne. Two-part process The roadworthy certificate is a two-part process. A licensed vehicle tester will inspect your vehicle to identify potential faults and defects requiring repair or replacement to be compliant with standards stipulated for the purpose of issuing a roadworthy certificate. This is the first part and if any of the components fail the test, a rejection report is issued. When a rejection report is issued for your vehicle, you are required to get the replacements or repairs mentioned in the report carried out within 7 days from the date of the rejection report and resubmit your vehicle for a second inspection. This is the second part of the process. However, if the vehicle is not presented for re-inspection within the stipulated period of 7 days, you will need to start from the first part again with attendant costs.  The second part will also need to be carried out by the same vehicle tester who issued the rejection report. Once a green RWC Melbourne is issued to you, the vehicle becomes officially roadworthy. Re-registration or transfer of your vehicle There may be times when your vehicle needs to be transferred to another person or you need a re-registration for your vehicle. In either of these instances, you will need a roadworthy certificate issued for your vehicle within 30 days preceding your application for transfer/re-registration. However, you should also know that an RWC does not guarantee roadworthiness of your vehicle for 30 days after issuing the certificate. The RWC may also come in handy if you are stopped by law enforcement officials and they seek the certificate. However, if the officer still notices serious defects in the vehicle, the RWC certificate by itself may not help you avoid penal action.  Leaking oil and bald tyres can be very obvious and can present serious trouble for other road users. When you are selling your vehicle, it is in your own interest to present a valid RWC along with the sale papers, though your vehicle can still be sold without the RWC. In such instances, it is desirable to remove the vehicle’s number plate and turn it over to an appropriate authority so that the registration of the vehicle is cancelled and you remain free from potential future events involving the vehicle you sold. The cost of getting an RWC will be influenced by its general condition, age, the vehicle tester and the garage carrying out the inspection. You are free to get multiple quotes and work with any accredited vehicle tester/garage to ensure that you get a Cheap Road Worthy certificate. For an updated guidance on getting an RWC for a vehicle, you can contact your garage or mechanic who can walk you through the whole process.

Taking care of your care on your own increases its durability and saves you both the time and money of travelling to and from a service company and spending lots of money on repairs you can potentially avoid with a little at home care! Here are some of our best tips on how to service and maintenance you care to ensure that it is well looked after and less prone to any severe issues: Read your cars manual – Learn more about your car by reading about your car model, its petrol and oil change needs as well as things like how often your care may need to be serviced per year. Doing this will increase the knowledge you have about your car making it easier to manage. Stay tuned to your dashboard: Have you ever had messages flash up on your dashboard with things like: Service alerts, coolant level alerts, petrol alerts and tyre alerts? Stay focussed on whatever messages appear on your dashboard and if something looks dangerous or concerning, contact us straight away on 1800 817 967. Staying in regular check with any dashboard messages increases early detection for any potential issues saving you time and the potential for long-term issues to arise if not managed instantly. Check the cambelt: Read your manual and see when your car should be due for a cambelt repair or change as if you do not assess this early it could potentially cause you serious engine damage that may not be repairable. Tyres: Always keep on top of your tyres and required tyre pressure. Not taking care of your tyres, both on-road and off-road will make them loose traction and cause crashes and serious accidents in bad weather or they could blow out instantly. Keeping them in regular check will prevent any serious issues from occurring. Eco Tips for Motorists

Australians are some of the biggest drivers on earth. Due to the expansive nature of our landscape, getting from A to B usually requires jumping in the car. Driving is an integral part of the Australian experience. As the reality of the impact of carbon emissions continue to come to light, finding an eco-friendly alternative is becoming not just imperative for our planet but also for our wallets. The toxicity of petroleum has been proven to be a contribution to air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. As motorists become more aware of the impact of their daily commute, so has the demand for eco-friendly approaches. You shouldn’t have to choose between being environmentally conscious and having the convenience of a car and with our easy eco-tips, you don’t have to. Western Auto is committed to providing the highest industry-standard care for vehicles whilst also delivering the latest eco-friendly solutions. We provide all-inclusive service and maintenance of any type of vehicle. Regularly Check Your Tyre Pressure When was the last time you thought about your type pressure? If your tyres are under-inflated your car’s engine will have to overcompensate making them work much harder than they have to. This will cause you to use a lot more fuel than necessary and increases rolling resistance. Any eco measures must put fuel consumption at the forefront as this is the biggest carbon emitter. The ideal amount of tyre pressure will vary depending on the make of your vehicle. If you’re unsure about the optimum tyre pressure for your car or want them increased by a professional, contact us. Minimise Accelerating & Braking Smoothing out your driving style will minimise accelerating and braking which in turn reduces fuel consumption. Braking progressively instead of halting abruptly is a great way to start. Making a conscious effort to be aware of the road and planning ahead so you’re able to slow down 12-15 seconds before approaching a turn, stop or roundabout. Similarly, hard accelerating increases fuel consumption significantly. For an eco-friendly drive, it’s best to slowly and incrementally grow your speed instead of slamming your foot on the accelerator. This is good for the health and longevity of your vehicle as well as being good for the earth. Have Your Air Conditioner Serviced We know all the discomfort and dread that comes with driving without a properly functioning air conditioner. Air conditioning is a necessary feature of any vehicle, especially throughout the scorching Melbourne summer months. Neglecting to service your air conditioner is not only detrimental to the functionality of your vehicle but is also costly to your petrol bills. The air conditioner in a car increases fuel use by up to 10%, when an air conditioner is not functioning properly this number rises significantly. Here at Western Auto, we understand how crucial an efficient air conditioner is to your comfort and fuel costs. We complete a thorough check of your air conditioner which includes an inspection of the gas pressure. A regular air conditioner check-up will decrease the chances of your car developing faults in the long-run and will greatly improve your level of fuel output. Get Your Vehicle Serviced Regularly It’s no secret that a serviced car is an economical one. Regular car servicing will not only ensure safety and reliability but a well-tuned engine has been proven to use less fuel to run. This is great for the environment and will also reduce your petrol bill. Car services can identify mechanical issues that may have been lying dormant for quite some time. Mechanical and exhaust problems can exacerbate emissions and waste fuel. Keeping your car in optimum condition is ultimately the best eco tip. A well-maintained car and engine will offset fewer emissions than a run-down one. With carbon emissions on the rise, it’s important for all motorists to assess their impact. Petrol is a big polluter in our environment but there are some easy and efficient ways to decrease our petrol usage and subsequently carbon emissions. Here at Western Auto, we are mechanical experts who can make your daily commute more affordable and better for the environment. Contact us today.
